Taylor County High School DECA students attended the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Anaheim, California from April 25th through April 30th. The students competed against 20,000 other students from across the United States, Canada, Guam, China, Puerto Rico, and Spain.
The six TCHS DECA students that attended the conference and represented Taylor County, along with TCHS DECA sponsor, Kristin Sexton, were sophomore Kailey Thompson, junior Sami Jo Smith, junior Madison Jones, freshman Eric Rogers, junior Faith Gaddis, and senior Rylen Smith.
During the conference, Kailey Thompson, Faith Gaddis, and Sami Jo Smith competed in a Creative Marketing Project. They received an Award of Excellence for scoring in the top 70th percentile. Rylen Smith and Madison Jones competed in Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making. Eric Rogers competed in Principles of Finance.
Taylor County High School DECA was also recognized at the ICDC for having the largest chapter in Kentucky. TCHS Marketing Teacher, Kristin Sexton, accepted the award.
