Thanksgiving Can Food Drive

On Friday, November 17, 2017, Taylor County High School held its 4th annual Thanksgiving Can Food Drive. The event is sponsored by Taylor County FFA and the theme for this year was “Magic CANdom.”

The food drive was held October 1st - November 17th and students brought in food items and non-perishable goods to their first period class. Incentives were offered for the class that brought in the most items and the class that had the best display.

Displays were made, according to the theme, before the Thanksgiving Assembly and Recognition Program on Friday. Over 9,000 cans of food and non-perishable items were donated to Green River Ministries during the assembly! Molly Matney, 2017 Miss Kentucky, also spoke at the assembly.

Winners for the Best Display were: 3rd place- Ms. Sexton’s class, 2nd place -Mr. William’s class, and 1st place - Ms. Dial’s class.

Winners for Most Cans Donated were: 3rd place - Taylor County Farm Bureau, 2nd place - Ms. Perkins’ and Ms. Dillery’s classes and 1st place - Ms. Dial’s class with over 1,000 cans brought in.

Thank you Taylor County FFA for sponsoring this event and thank you to all the students and staff who donated items.
