On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, Taylor County celebrated Food for America. At this event, 3rd graders from Taylor County Intermediate School, Campbellsville Elementary School, and Kentucky Christian Academy are educated on where our food comes from by Taylor County FFA and Career and Technical students.
The elementary students participated in rotations, led by the high school students, visited different “booths,” and learned about every aspect of food production, transportation, and marketing. There were over 300 elementary students in attendance and 200 high school students, several CTE teachers, and local volunteers participated in the event.
All participants were given a Food for America t-shirt and were treated to a lunch of locally sourced beef. Taylor County School District would like to thank Taylor County High School teachers Lindsay Wayne and Ryan Williams for their leadership of the event. We would also like to thank all of the teachers and volunteers who helped make the day possible. Lastly, a huge thanks to the Food for America sponsors: Kentucky Farm Bureau, Taylor County Farm Bureau, FFA, FCCLA, DECA, FBLA, and the Technology Student Association.
