SGT Kyle Cox visits TCHS

SGT Kyle Cox

On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, SGT Kyle Cox, a former Taylor County High School graduate, was the guest speaker in Ms. Neal and Mrs. Christie's English III classes.

The English III classes are currently reading the novel, "The Things They Carry." The novel is about the tangible and intangible items that soldiers carried during the Vietnam War. SGT Cox shared his real life experiences with the students, as well as the things that he carried and stills carries. The students quickly realized that intangible things can bear more weight than multiple items in a soldier’s duffle bag. SGT Cox related to two of the characters in the book with his roles during his time of deployment. One of SGT Cox’s best statements to the students was, "If you fear failure, then you have already failed." He told the students that he has learn more from of his failed experiences than anything else in his life!

Taylor County High School and Taylor County School District would like to thank SGT Cox for visiting with our students and for serving our country!
