TCMS Teacher to Serve as Guest Music Professor in Ecuador

Taylor County Middle School Music Teacher and Choir Director, Mrs. Christina Bishop, will travel to the Orquesta Sinfonica Cristiana del Ecuador Conservatory of Music in Guayaquil, Ecuador this month for a two-week Summer Residency Program. She will be joining six other members as part of Sacred Winds Ministries’ music academy that works with students of all ages at O.S.C.E.

According the Sacred Winds Ministries’ website, the seven members of the program will “also engage in educational activities, performances, and ministry across the city, immersing themselves in cultural exchange all along the way. The Summer Residency Program will culminate in public performances where Sacred Winds Ensemble will appear in concert together with Orquesta Sinfonica Cristiana del Ecuador as featured guest artists."

Mrs. Bishop received her Bachelors of Music Education from Campbellsville University and her Masters in Music Performance from Campbellsville University. During her time at CU, she served as the principal flutist for the orchestra, wind ensemble, and concert band. She was the FSK Collegiate Competition Solo Artist Winner in 2001 and was named principal flutist for the Kentucky Intercollegiate Orchestra in 2014.
