Taylor County High School freshman, Jacob Porter, won both events of the Dragster Design Challenge this year. The students receive a kit and they use specifications to design and make a CO2 dragster to race on a 60 foot track. Jacob's car met the specifications and had a 1.1 second elapsed time on race day. The pre-engineering and manufacturing department also has an Open Class to encourage creativity through design. Jacob created a truck and trailer for his dragster with working lights. Jacob was voted the winner by TCHS faculty and staff. Jacob was awarded $20 cash for each event. Jacob is keeping up the "family tradition,” as his older brother Paul won these events during his time at TCHS.
