Universal Design for Learning

The Kentucky Department of Education and the University of Louisville's College of Education and Human Development are pleased
to announce six $10,000 Universal Design for Learning model school grants.  The competitive grants were awarded to: (1) Campbell Ridge
Elementary in Campbell County; (2) Shearer Elementary in Clark County; (3) Shepherdsville Elementary in Bullitt County; (4) Trigg County
Middle; (5) Taylor County Middle; and (6) Boyd County High School. These grants will help schools integrate new instructional strategies
that incorporate accessible or scaffolded curriculum materials and emerging technologies into the classroom.  These new accessible
curriculum materials integrate universal design features that allow all students to engage in the learning process more fully regardless of
ability.  These grants will be coordinated through the Center for Innovation and Instruction for Diverse Learners
(http://louisville.edu/education/ciidl) which will offer technical assistance and professional development to schools through June 2008.
