Congratulations to Taylor County School District’s Achievement Award Winners for June! The three recipients were recognized at the June Board Meeting on June 10, 2019.
Dianna Wilson, Taylor County High School Instructional Assistant, was the recipient of the TC Pride Award. Mrs. Wilson shows tremendous school spirit each and every day. She attends almost ALL extra-curricular activities to support our students and athletes. She is also always the first to volunteer when a bus chaperone is needed! Thank you Mrs. Wilson for being so dedicated to our students and district.
Andrew Melton, Taylor County High School rising senior, was the recipient of the TC Pride Award. Andrew received the award for scoring perfect on the ACT not once, but TWICE! We are so proud of his dedication to academics and his incredible work ethic.
Jeff Gumm, TCHS Baseball Coach and former Athletic Director, was the recipient of the TC Leadership Award. Coach Gumm was nominated for the award for stepping-up as the interim TCHS Boys Basketball Coach. Following an unexpected coaching vacancy prior to the 2018-19, he led the team to a 23-8 season and won the 20th District Tournament and was 5th Region Runner-Up. Not only did he coach a winning basketball team, but the TCHS Baseball Team won the 20th District Tournament AND the 5th Region Tournament. Coach Gumm has coached the Cardinals since he succeeded Don Shaw in 1993 and his teams have won over 640 games, 13 District Championships, and two Regional Championships. Coach Gumm was inducted into the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 and was a finalist for the National High School Coaches Association Baseball Coach of the Year Award in 2016.
Taylor County School District would like to congratulate these three individuals and thank them for their dedication to our students, schools, and community.
