Journey to Reconciliation: An Interactive History of African Americans in Taylor County

Journey to Reconciliation

On Monday, March 29, Mrs. Wanda Washington, Mrs. Yevette Haskins, and Mrs. Suzanne Grubisec spoke to the ninth grade English classes at TCHS about a grant project they have been working on called “Journey to Reconciliation: An Interactive History of African Americans in Taylor County.”

This event is the kick off to the English I classes’ study of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

During the panel, students learned about the history of Durham High School and other aspects of Taylor County during the Jim Crow Era.

The exhibit is open to the public daily from 12-2 in the TCHS Library. Visitors are encouraged to bring a mobile device and ear buds to fully interact with the local stories.
