Superintendent's Message

Charles Higdon

It continues to be a pleasure to serve Taylor County School District as Superintendent and while the start of this year is unlike any other, Taylor County School District’s dedicated teachers and staff are committed to academic excellence and supporting our students and families as we continue to navigate this ever-changing landscape together.  We plan to approach this school year with optimism and enthusiasm.  This time also calls for adaptability, kindness, empathy and patience. Although we cannot expect classes to be just like before, we can anticipate the exciting opportunities this new environment has to offer.  As we look ahead to the 2020-2021 school year, we stay committed to preparing our students for their academic journey.

As we seek to meet the challenges of providing education in a COVID-19 pandemic environment, we are continuing the process of planning for classroom and school health and safety protocols.  Crafting such plans is a tremendous endeavor involving district administration, teachers, staff, and parent input.  The health and safety of students, faculty and staff are our first priority.

What is most important is that we stay positive, focus on what can be achieved each day and continue to work together to build a strong partnership.  I am proud of the many accomplishments, in our schools and across our district, and I look forward to creating more opportunities for our students to be successful.

Sending my gratitude and best to all of you as we launch into a new school year.
