Local Kroger Stores Investing in TCHS Students' Futures

Cardinal Kroger Students Employed with Kroger

Over the past year, Taylor County High School’s school-based enterprise, Cardinal Kroger and the local Kroger have vastly strengthened their relationship. As a result, Kroger has recently hired six students from the TCHS Cardinal Kroger staff to join their team: Davin Phillips, Marc Shewmaker, Kendall Thompson, Baylie Skaggs, Grace Giles, and Grayson Wise.

Marcus Rodgers, TCHS Cardinal Kroger Sponsor and Business Teacher, said “I am very proud of all six students who have landed jobs at the local Kroger stores as a result of their hard-work in Cardinal Kroger. We strive to have Cardinal Kroger serving as a training ground for future employment in the retail and business sector for our students. This is living proof that the work that students are doing at TCHS can pay dividends in real life.”

Marc Shewmaker, a junior at TCHS, said “working in Cardinal Kroger has allowed me to gain experience and skills necessary to earn a job at Kroger. I believe this experience will better prepare me for my career.”

Mr. Barry McCubbin, Store Manager at Kroger Green River Plaza, stated that “the Kroger Company is so proud to continue and grow our relationship with Taylor County High School. We want to help young people have an avenue to join the workforce.” Taylor County School District and Taylor County High School would like to thank Mr. McCubbin and the local Kroger stores for investing in our students’ futures. We look forward to continuing to grow this partnership and helping more students connect with future employment opportunities.
