Taylor County Intermediate School’s Strong Girls Group took a field trip on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The girls visited places where strong women work!
The group toured Mill Creek Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Ange Olt. Dr. Olt led the girls on a tour of her clinic and shared about the education track needed to become a veterinarian.
The next stop was the School of Nursing at Campbellsville University. Dr. Dickens spoke with the girls about what nurses do and the different places where nurses can work. Dr. Young discussed germ sharing with the girls and helped them practice on a training mannequin.
Cardinal Corral, the culinary school-based enterprise at Taylor County High School, led by Mrs. Shewmaker, served the girls lunch while they practiced proper table manners. The group also took a tour around the culinary kitchen and learned about the equipment used in large-scale kitchens.
Mrs. Joanna Williams led a tour of Fancy That, where the girls received free bath bombs. They also learned all about the Family Consumer Science Pathway offered at TCHS.
Mrs. April Higdon’s students in the Cosmetology Pathway talked with the girls about becoming career ready in the area of cosmetology. The Strong Girls Group had their nails painted and their hair braided!
The TCIS Strong Girls were able to learn about many different choices for their future during their field trip. TCIS Strong Girls Group is led by TCIS Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Christy Parks.
