TC Achievement Award Winners - October

October Recipients

Congratulations to Taylor County School District’s Achievement Award Winners for October! The recipients were recognized at the Board Meeting on Monday, October 14, 2019.

The categories for the TC Achievement Award include TC Leadership (Leadership, Innovation, Team Leader, Project Leader), TC Cares (Service, Kindness, Giving of Time and Talents, Philanthropy), TC Pride (Achievement in the Classroom and Extracurriculars, Teamwork, Work Ethic), and TC Partnership (Community Partnerships, Parent Involvement).

Mrs. Melanie McFarland, Library Media Specialist at Taylor County Primary Center and Taylor County Intermediate School, was the recipient of the TC Leadership Award. She has completely transformed the media center for our students! In addition to students being able to check out books, Mrs. McFarland has created an environment where students are encouraged to create and explore. The library has many centers where students can do STEM activities, as well as build and design. When she wanted to find more comfortable seating for students, she applied and received several grants to incorporate this seating into the library media center. The TCPC/TCIS Library Media Center is a welcoming place where students enjoy spending time thanks to Mrs. McFarland’s vision and leadership! Ms. Taylor Black, 2nd grade teacher at Taylor County Primary Center, was the recipient of the TC Cares Award. She was nominated by a parent of one of her students for her kindness, comfort, and patience that she has shown the student who is new to Taylor County School District. In addition, Ms. Black has found innovative ways to help her students stay focused in her class and has truly made her classroom a caring and comforting place. Ms. Black is pictured with one of her students, TCPC Principal Mrs. Melissa Long and TC Board Member Mrs. Deanna Hunt.

Mr. Marcum was unable to attend the board meeting due to his work schedule but he was still acknowledged at the meeting!

Taylor County School District would like to congratulate these individuals and thank them for their dedication to our students, schools, and community.
